Stars, Stripes and Strings Fest at Veteran's Park Saturday August 20

The final concert at Veteran's Park in Manchester once again touched on the recurring theme, appropriately so, of veterans, patriotism and community.  It was a beautiful summer night and probably the best attendance yet to end the series with a bang!  I wish I remembered this veterans name, who sang (with the help of the crowd) the National Anthem.

As events like this can be, it is the place to see and be seen.  Through these six events, I have become friendly with some of the downtown community, reconnected with local friends and met so many friendly people/families.

Profile Chorus opened the show with their harmonious mix of newer and classic songs.  They were very animated and that came out strong with their performance of Thriller.

All of the bands/performers were so heartfelt and genuine which made for touching songs and tributes, as well as just plain rockin' and fun lovin' tunes.  Many did songs for the love of the USA and other patriotic themes. 

The Jimmy Lehoux Band was the final act for the series and the huge crowd loved them!  Ending the show with his solo performance of Please Come to Boston was so sweet and is one of my favorite songs.

The feeling of community that Intown Manchester has created (with TD Bank and other sponsors) in this concert series was wonderful and I hope it continues to grow.  Besides the concerts, there was and still are, other family friendly events that they sponsor.  I had so much fun being a part of this and blogging about it...........I loved it!!! 

Veteran's Park Free Thursday Night Concerts-July 28th

The 3rd installment of the Intown Manchester/TD Bank free summer concert series at Veteran's Park was another success, avoiding some bad weather and enjoying the outdoors on another HHH night.  I think this past week I sweat out a few pounds (I could only hope) as well I did last night.  It didn't hamper the festivities though and the bands made it delightful.  Amanda McCarthy and company opened the night with a bang and the 69th Army Rock Band finished with an explosion of energy!

There is always a lot of interest in my booth during these Thursdays, if not in sales, in curiosity and admiration for hand-made items.  This Thursday I was helped by a few beautiful young women to model some cute bags for me.  I plan on using the modeling abilities of my adult daughter, Alyssia, when we get our schedules together, but so far I've only used mannequins.  I want to thank the parents/grandparents for allowing me to photograph them and the pictures came out so great they really make my bags look good!

Destiny was my first model, before I was even all set up, and she like the ruffles with the shoulder look.

Thandiwe (thanks for spelling it and I hope I got it right) liked the ruffles also and the crossbody look.

I made these two bags with a little girl in mind, ruffles and pompoms and bright colors.  I asked them how they like to have the bags on them, on the shoulder, across the body, and I make the strings long for adjustment if necessary, so we adjusted per each one.  When I look at these pictures all I can do is smile.  They are so precious.  Thank you again girls and I hope you enjoy the Osage Orange heart with the pearl/abalone inlay.  I put them on a bag, in a window, as a bracelet or necklace, or of course, a tree decoration.

There is one more Thursday night free concert on August 4th.  Rockspring will be the headliner and I hope I see the most attendance yet for the final show and I also hope to see more familiar faces at this happening event in downtown Manchester.

Veteran's Park Free Thursday Night Concerts

The main entertainment was Foreigner's Journey with Chris Cavanaugh opening the show.

This was my first time as a vendor at the event and I wasn't sure how sales would go for my items, but I had quite a few sales and my items were well received.

I made a new batch of summer bags, some very bright and colorful, some smaller clutch-type bags and some large tote bags to carry a lot of items to the beach or lake.

The kickoff to the free Thursday night concerts at Veteran's Park in downtown Manchester seemed a great success for all; TD Bank, Intown Manchester, the musical entertainment and the crowd!  Due to the threat of storms, the show was moved up an hour, but that didn't seem to have much of an effect on the attendance.  I was impressed with the fun, family atmosphere, the production was very professional and the music was a crowd pleaser.  It was so hot and humid, but the energy was still intense on the stage.
