The Little Ole Dollhouse-maker.....me.
As I participated in holiday craft fairs last 2015 and brought along my 53lb. friend, the dollhouse I just sold, I heard stories from many attendees about dollhouses in their lives. The saddest mention is what many say and what our dollhouse was doing before I rescued it...................gathering dust forevermore in the basements. That is why I decorated the Zevos dollhouse for the holidays. I bring it up every year and the memories of it shine along with all the holiday decorations. I think it's a super option and it makes me feel good doing it.
I strive to make my dollhouses a little unique, colorful and tastefully different.
I love creating and making all my different items, but I must say I think I have found a niche making dollhouses. I just recently sold my 2nd dollhouse!
My dollhouse making began when, in my need to save and not waste memorabilia, I decided to bring up from the cellar the dollhouse that John and Alyss put together many years ago. It was almost finished and all the pieces were saved in a bag still (!?! wow !?!) So, I dusted and cleaned all the pieces and furniture (there was a lot of dust) and began the process.
I did some retouching and finishing of the white paint on the inside, but the rooms were already wallpapered in some of the actual wallpaper from the real Zevos house. All the furniture was given to Alyssia by her Nana way back when, as well as the figures. I finished the roof with the shingles that were in the bag, put on the door and all the outside trim.
